The Society Islands, also known as the Leeward Islands, consist of eight islands located in the southwest of the Pacific Ocean. Most visitors land in Tahiti, the only island with an international airport. You can then explore the islands of your choice with us by boat. In this archipelago, everything is possible: sports, nature, beaches, culture, gastronomy, heritage, shopping, and well-being.
Sailing Conditions
The Society Islands offer ideal sailing conditions, with steady trade winds averaging 15-20 knots, making for smooth, relaxed sailing. The islands are protected by coral reefs, creating calm lagoons perfect for safe navigation. While there is a distinct dry season from April to November, and a more humid season from December to March, the temperatures remain warm year-round between 25°C and 30°C. Over the years, weather patterns have become less predictable, with occasional rain at any time of year—though it never lasts long. French Polynesia’s Society Islands are a year-round sailing destination, offering exceptional beauty and favorable conditions no matter the season.
